Usually mothers were the ones who prepared food at home. Since women are now starting to work for money, the fathers roll is starting to change, because the father has to start cooking.

In most homes, mothers still remain to be the one who is responsible for the food preparation. These mothers who have to work on a full-time basis often content to purchase food that are take out from fast foods and restaurants which are often full of fats and cholesterol.

Statistics show that children of these mothers are expected to be overweight. There seems to be a negative relationship between homemade food intake to obesity.

Further studies have shown that about 40% of the men know how to cook, but only 13% of the meals are prepared by him in home.

It is sad to say, but these statistics are going down every month. Men no longer like cooking. They see cooking has an obligation.

Some opportunities were created in order to reverse these statistics. For example, many cooking magazines and TV shows were created. All this was made to try lure father into cooking more often.

In spite of this tri-media approach to promote cooking to men, they continue to shun the responsibility.

Women should try to change the mens point of view by inviting them to cook with her.

In line with this thinking, it would be better if the family becomes involve in preparing the meals in the kitchen. With everybody involved, fathers will certainly take out their inhibitions about cooking while they explore the experience of coming up with their meal.

Once some fathers start to cook, others will follow their examples and we might be able to reverse the statistics.
